After a terrific start in which he tied the 36-hole course record, Brendan Steele managed only a 3-over-par 75 Sunday in the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, which dropped him into a tie for 13th place.

But the Idyllwild native never stopped giving it his best effort, sinking a 14-footer for birdie on the 17th hole Sunday.

Brendan scored his fifth top-20 finish in 13 tournaments this season. He earned 55 FedExCup points, giving him 476 on the season, and he now ranks 56th on the points list.

B is taking this week off.
