Brendan Steele posted an even-par 72 Sunday in the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, to finish the tournament 3 under par in a tie for 14th place. His round scores were 71-70-72-72 — 285.

It was his sixth top-20 finish in 14 starts this season.

The Idyllwild native now has 530 FedExCup points. He moved up from 59th to 53rd on that list as a result of this tournament and already has virtually assured his playing card for next season.

By virtue of last season’s success, B qualified to play in this week’s The Players Championship on the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. B tees off Thursday at 6:16 a.m. PDT and Friday at 11:21 a.m. PDT.
