A male climber was rescued from Lily Rock Sunday afternoon, May 22. He had been complaining of chest pain while rock climbing while he was about 500 feet above the surface level.
The patient was able to belay down to solid ground where firefighters assisted him, preparing him to be hoisted by helicopter. Idyllwild Fire, Riverside County Fire and Riverside Sheriffs Department responded to the scene.
Here helicopter 301 is seen as one of its crew descends to help prepare for the climber to be hoisted up and transported for further medical aid.
Other rock climbers, unrelated to the incident, can be seen in the background just above the helicopter. This shows the magnitude of Lily Rock in comparison to humans.
