Ice Hockey

Brian Smith, the father of Wildcats’ team member Adam Smith, gave this update on Adam’s recent game.

The Wildcats had two games this weekend. The first was Saturday, when the Wildcats hosted the Goleta Ice Hawks in some really physical play. The Hawks scored in each of the first two periods. The Wildcats’ goaltender, Kevin Moore, made some incredible saves to keep them in the game, but the offense ran into another hot Hawks goaltender. The final score was 3-0.

Sunday, the Wildcats played Orange County Hockey Club in Yorba Linda. The first period started out with even play back and forth, until Kaleb Boctor scored a goal for the Wildcats with just under seven minutes to go in the period. In the second period, Max Nordhausen scored at 8:17 to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead, which they held deep into the third period. With 3:39 to go, OC broke the shutout, scoring their only goal of the game. The OC pulled their goalie with two minutes left to play, but never got another scoring chance. The Wildcats ran out the clock, and won the game 2-1.

The next game is scheduled for Sunday, Oct.2, at 10:20 a.m. against the AA Lady Ducks 2 at 13071 Springdale St., Westminster.
