Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, Dec. 9, monthly golf tournament held at Palm Desert Resort Country Club.
It was a perfect fall day in the desert with mild temps, and the course was in good shape.
Lee Lanfried, (course handicap 24) took first place with a net 72; Pete Holzman (15) took second with a net 73; John Newman (22) took third with a net 75; and Gary Brown (14) and Crandall (12) tied for fourth with net 77s to round out the top five finishers.
The closest to the pin winners on the four par 3 holes were Brown on holes no. 4 and 6, Crandall on hole no. 12, and Lanfried on hole no. 16.
For the 2016-17 season, which started in August and runs through July, here are the current point standings:

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.
A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.
The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
