Patricia Jeanne Abbott

Patricia Jeanne Abbott (formerly Patti Cooper) died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, in Llantwit Major, Wales.

She had recently married the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) Abbott, on Oct. 30, 2016.

A resident of Idyllwild since 2010, Patti was an active volunteer, serving on the Art Alliance board with then-President Gary Kuscher, driving golf carts at Jazz in the Pines and joining Rotary.

Patti was an avid reader, skilled photographer and a budding oil painter. She enjoyed traveling in Europe with Tony and hiking many trails in Idyllwild, the Ernie Maxwell being her favorite. She also loved sailing boats and flying small planes, picking up awards as a female pilot.

She spent almost every Tuesday night listening to jazz with Tony at Ferro.

Idyllwild friends will remember Patti’s warmth, her contagious smile and laughter, and her genuine willingness to be there for her community.

Patti had a successful lifelong career in sales and management, most recently serving as director of support services for Build Rehabilitation Industries in Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization connecting developmentally disabled adults with employment opportunities.

Patti is survived by her beloved husband Tony; her sons, Paul and Brandon; her daughter-in-law Jessica; grandchildren Ally, Luke and Raelyn; and six sisters.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb., 26, at The Rainbow Inn.

In lieu of flowers, Tony and Patti’s family ask that donations be made in her name to Build Rehabilitation Industries at www.buildindustries.com or by sending a check to Patti Cooper Abbott Memorial, Build Rehabilitation Industries, 12432 Foothill Blvd., Sylmar, CA 91342.
