Karin Greenwood and Idyllwild Postmaster Kelly Gates worked together to create paper recycling opportunities in the U.S. Postal Service lobby.

“Paper only is what can go in the recycling slots,” admonished Greenwood after someone put tacos and soda into the blue recycling containers.

“If paper goes into the bins under the sorting stations it just goes into the trash. To be recycled it must go in the blue containers. If anything other than paper goes into the recycling containers, those contents won’t be able to be recycled.”

Greenwood explained the recycle bins’ contents would be packaged with post office business recycling and be transported to the main post office for proper disposal.

“We want this to be a very positive thing,” said Greenwood, noting that Gates and the Greenwoods — Richard and Karin — donated the recycling containers.
