After two weeks off, Idyllwild native Brendan Steele will tee it up Wednesday in the $9.75 million World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament on the Austin Country Club course in Austin, Texas.
Singles match play is unusual on the PGA Tour these days. It involves pairing off golfers who play each other hole-by-hole to see which of them wins the most holes out of 18. Overall strokes do not matter; just the number needed to win each individual hole.
This WGC match play event involves both pool play and one-on-one competition. Three days of four-player pool play will be followed by two days of single-elimination one-on-one, with the final two players meeting Sunday afternoon.
