Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the regular monthly tourney, held on Friday, June 30, at  The Country Club at Soboba Springs.

It was a beautiful day, the course was in good shape, and low scores were the order of the day.

Lee Lanfried (course handicap 26) and Ken Garelick (25) shot net 64s to tie for first place. Pete Capparelli (24) and Crandall (15) shot net 67s to tie for third. And Dennis Chavez (8) and Barry Zander (35) tied for fifth with net 69s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par-3 holes were Zander on hole no. 4, Holzman on no. 8, Mike Higginbotham on no. 13 and Crandall on the 15th hole.

For the 2016-2017 season, which started in August  and runs through July, here are the current point standings:

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
