Brendan Steele fired a 2-under-par 35-34 — 69 in the opening round of the Dell Technologies Championship in Norton, Massachusetts, Friday. The Dell is the second of the four post-season FedExCup tournaments.

The native Idyllwilder posted four birdies and an eagle against four bogeys to pull into a tie for 12th place, three shots off the pace, going into Saturday’s second round.

The eagle came at the 600-yard, par 5, 7th hole. His second shot flew 258 yards to the green, 11 ½ feet from the pin, and he drained the putt from there.

Brendan tees off in the second round tomorrow, Saturday, at 5:40 a.m. PDT.
