The Idyllwild Grinding Facility will move to winter hours beginning Dec. 1 —Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — until June 2021. The facility will be closed each Wednesday and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
The facility is located at the 5,000-foot marker, 1 mile south of the Idyllwild Transfer Station on Highway 243 and customers pay a per-ton rate on pre-paid accounts.
The facility accepts wood waste and wood waste affected by the bark beetle, as well as green waste, pine needles and associated slash.
What doesn’t it accept? The facility does not accept household waste, appliances, e-waste, metals, tires, burned debris and other hazardous, explosive and medical wastes.
The facility is closed the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. As a reminder, the facility may be closed when the area experiences inclement weather.
