Brendan Steele posted a 10-under-par 264 in the Waste Management Phoenix Open last week to tie for 30th place.
The Idyllwild native slammed drives averaging 308 yards into 82% of the fairways while finding nearly 81% of the greens in regulation. His putter wasn’t working as well, though, dropping 1.3 strokes per round against the field.
The performance moved him eight spots up the FedExCup points list to 84th place, the same position he now enjoys on the Official World Golf Ranking.
Brendan plays this week in the $7.8-million AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. Brendan has played the tournament at Pebble only twice — in his rookie year 2011 and again the next year — but he was cut both times.
Brendan will tee off Thursday at 10:09 a.m. PST and Friday at 8:52 a.m. PST, playing with Andrew Putnam and Troy Merritt both days.
Follow him on the Golf Channel, CBS and shot-for-shot at the PGA Tour website.
