Brendan Steele posted a 2-under-par 286 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week to earn a tie for 18th place, his second-best finish in the Palmer ever.
The Idyllwild native collected an eagle and 10 birdies against 10 bogeys while finding nearly 61% of the fairways with drives averaging 296 yards. He hit 67% of the greens in regulation but averaged losing 0.619 strokes daily to the field with the putter.
Brendan currently stands in 84th place on the FedExCup points list and is ranked 78th in the world on the Official World Golf Rankings.
Brendan will play this week in the $15-million The Players Championship on the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the tournament often referred to as “the 5th major.”
The Players features a famous par-3 17th hole — an island green producing much drama over the years. Brendan’s best finish in The Players was a tie for 7th in 2017.
He’ll tee off Thursday at 10:22 a.m. PST and Friday at 5:02 a.m. PST, playing with Andrew Landry and Cameron Champ both days.
