Mouse

By Janice Murasko
Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” the ARF cats had to endure Phil’s rendition of a holiday song.
Phil: Hey, Whiskers. Have you seen Stevie? I can’t find him anywhere.
Whiskers: Nope. Haven’t seen him since last weekend.
Don: I don’t think you’ll ever find him. He was adopted!
Whiskers: Aw, that’s great! He will make a family feel complete, especially during the holidays.
Don: What a lucky boy.
Phil: Just when I find a good friend, he is gone.
Pepper: That’s life in the ARF cattery!
Phil: Pepper, who is that little black dog that keeps peeking into here?
Pepper: Oh! That must be Mouse.
Lulu: A mouse? Is there is a mouse in the house?
Harley: Not that kind of mouse! It’s the new ARF dog whose name is Mouse.
Mouse: Are you talking about me? I’m Mouse!
Lulu: Oh! You’re Mouse. Welcome!
Mouse: I won’t stay long because to be honest, I am not so fond of you felines.
Lulu: Oh, well, I guess that’s OK, but what do you think about other dogs?
Mouse: Oh, I like other dogs, even big ones!
Phil: I suppose that’s good because you are pretty small.
Mouse: Yep. I’m only 9.5 pounds, between 2 and 3 years old, and my foster is helping to teach me to not go potty in the house. She says I must be house trained.
Harley: That’s a good thing! What breed are you Mouse?
Mouse: Adoptable. Adorable.
Harley: Of course you are, but for a human who really wants to know your breed, what would you tell him?
Mouse: That’s a good question. I’d say I’m a terrier-mix.
Pepper: I hope you find your forever home very soon.
Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of our Nine Lives” each week. And please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Highway 243. Mr. Gray: So, I’ve been thinking about reasons why humans should have us felines in their lives. Thomas: Did you come up with some good ones? Mr. Gray: I surely did! First of all, cats are masters of self-care, meaning we are pretty low maintenance. We tell our humans when something is wrong, we enjoy…
