Creature Corner: May 24, 2012

“I’m lost and frantically searching for my family, and everyone keeps calling me by some strange name. I’ve been moved from an unfamiliar place and car to yet another strange place, with other strange dogs. I am going to extremes to escape in search of my home, all the time howling to see if my family hears me.”

This is the upsetting life of a lost dog who has no chip or tags. This has been the life of a found dog for the past 10 days. He has traveled both sides of the mountain in search of his people. He is a very friendly male with the saddest eyes begging for us to help him. Found: unneutered male about 4 years old. Airedale-mix, maybe Irish wolfhound. He is brown, black and grey. Please call ARF if you have any information.

And please consider chipping your dog. Imagine him being in this kind of stress. Sadies’s clinic offers the chip.

Meet Molly II. She is a young and playful Jack Russell-basenji mix. She is new to our pack, so she is learning leash rules, house training, and basic commands. Come in Saturday to meet Molly and take her for a walk with her buddy Tucker, our male basenji mix. Together, they will bring hours of enjoyment to your boring day. Tucker is a year old. He and Molly are looking for an energetic home.

Luna was rescued with the Anza gang. She is a young female, and a little on the shy side. She has a clean bill of health, and is keeping her eye out for a forever loving home, as are her Anza roommates, Sydney the mini Aussie, Charlie Brown and Chip, the teacups, Whisper and Lil Stevie, the longhaired Chihuahua.

Monty and Mina have lost the comfort of their forever home and now find themselves living in our cattery with Mrs. Magoo and Twiggy. Monty is a pure white adult male who loves to be groomed. Mina is a senior Birman-Siamese female who loves a little attention, but for the most part, wants to just look pretty. And you do that well Mina.

Many of you may recognize Girl as the stray who wandered our streets for many years. Here she is in all of her glory, with a beautiful coat of Aussie fur, tail wagging for the walk, and a paw up for all humans.

ARF has many cats and dogs available for adoption or fostering. Go to www.idyllwildarf.org and click on Petfinder. All pets are spayed, neutered, and current on shots.
