Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report on the Friday, May 18, golf tournament played at the Menifee Lakes Country Club.

The regular monthly tournament was played on the Palms Course on a beautiful spring day under sunny skies, mild temperatures and gentle winds. The course was in excellent shape with fast, tricky, undulating greens.

Jim Crandall (course handicap 11) took first place with a net 66; Dan Slattery (24) took second with a net 68; Wayne Sleme (27) took third with a net 70; Bill Ragland (14) took fourth with a net 71; and Bill Sanborn (27) and Bob Stearns (21) tied for fifth with net 72s.

Of the closest-to-the-pin contests on the four par 3s, Crandall won on hole no. 4, Gary Brown won on no. 7 and no. 17, and Stearns won on no. 14.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. In addition, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
