Bill Whitman of Idyllwild participated in the Pasadena Triathlon (all three legs of the race were held at the Rose Bowl) this weekend. He finished fifth in the event of 800 participants and first in his age group (50 to 54).

The course was a five-kilometer run, 15-kilometer bike, and 150-meter swim. Since the swimming leg was last, this was a reverse triathlon. Whitman’s total time was 50 minutes and 52 seconds.

“I had a good race,” Whitman said.
