Town Hall Youth Basketball Coordinator Bob Lewis gave this report for recent games.
Division 1 (ages 6-9)
On Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Wildcats played the Trojans. Tony Solorio played good defense and grabbed many rebounds for the Wildcats, but Jake Fey played good for the Trojans, scoring a bucket as the Trojans beat the Wildcats 16-8.
The later game had the Bruins hosting the Black Wolf Pack. Jon Rodriguez scored 2 points and was aggressive on defense for the Black Wolf Pack. Me Li Stroud played a good game scoring a bucket and stole the ball a couple times for the Bruins as they beat the Black Wolf Pack 15-7.
On Friday, Jan. 22, the Trojans went against the Black Wolf Pack. Kaylee Gage played a good game for the Trojans with good defense. The Black Wolf Pack countered with Indigo Dagnall playing well for the Wolf Pack with aggressive defense and stole the ball a few times, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Trojans beat the Black Wolf Pack 14-8.
The second game saw the Bruins hosting the Wildcats. Landon Cloud had a good game for the Wildcats with good defense but Carter Johnson played well for the Bruins as the Bruins beat the Wildcats 19-10.

Division 2 (ages 10-13)
On Thursday, Jan. 21, the Timberwolves hosted the Pumpkin Heads. Christian Lynn scored 2 points and was aggressive for the Timberwolves. Ryker Hamblin also scored 2 points for the Pumpkin Heads, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Timberwolves beat the Pumpkin Heads by a score of 24-13.

Golf
Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, Jan. 15, monthly golf tournament, which was played at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
It was a cold, cloudy, windy winter day, but the course was in good shape. This month, the tournament format was a four-man scramble.
In a scramble, each foursome plays as a team. Each person hits a drive, then the group selects the best drive, and everyone else picks up their balls and hits their second shot from that spot. The play continues like that until the ball is holed.
The one caveat is that a team has to use four drives from each team member, with two discretionary drives left over. This can make it difficult strategically, since the foursomes are made up of both low and high handicappers.
Each team is given a course handicap based on the team’s combined individual handicaps.
The team of Bob Baker (course handicap 34), Jim Crandall (14), David Hiemenz (42) and Dave Robb (15) took first place with a gross 72, net 68.
Second-place team was composed of Dale Calderon (42), Pete Capparelli (24), Ken Garelick (27) and Pete Holzman (11) with a gross 74, net 70.
Third place was captured by the team of Don DePalma (42), Tom Flanagan (34), Bill Ragland (20) and Barry Wallace (12) with a gross 77, net 72.
The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Robb on hole no. 6, Robert Priefer on hole no. 8, and Flanagan on both holes nos. 11 and 14.
Points for this scramble were awarded as follows: first place 3 points each; second place 2 points each; and third place 1 point each. And everyone who plays gets 0.5 points.
The 2015-2016 season runs from August 2015 through July 2016.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.
A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.
The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.

Volleyball
Town Hall Adult Coed Volleyball Coordinator Ginger Dagnall gave this report for recent games.
Last week on the volleyball court:
Idyllwild Inn beat La Casita that went all the way to game five. Each team played hard and had amazing rallies.
Soil Supply Co. beat Idyllwild Vacation Rentals in three games. Good sportsmanship and good volleyball.
Idyllwild Garage beat Vacation Rentals in three games.
Saturday was a fun day of volleyball from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with four different games going on. Idyllwild Garage beat La Casita. Hard hits took the game.
Then La Casita beat Idyllwild Vacation Rentals in five games. IVR wasn’t going down without a fight.
Idyllwild Garage beat Idyllwild Vacation Rentals. IVR tried their best to put up blocks but couldn’t stop them.
Idyllwild Inn beat Silver Pines. It took five games and lots of great saves and plays. These two teams are a great match-up.
Each team plays each other three times. There are six teams in this 2015-16 league. All teams make it to playoffs.
