Pirate

By Janice Murasko

Last week in The Days of Our Nine Lives, the ARF dogs and cats discussed their finer qualities.

Leia

Leia:  Everyone, listen up! Big news!

George

George: I just love big news.  What is it?

Leia: Girlie Girl and Traveler were adopted this last week!  They are both living in the Temecula area.

Bobbie:  And I heard we have a new dog. His name is Pirate, he’s a poodle mix, and he’s 8 years- old. And the good news is he is fine with cats and great with dogs.

Binky:  Is he here? May we meet him?

Leia:  He is, but right now he’s visiting with Grace. He seems to really like women.

Bobbie:  Grace the cat? What?  She was adopted a few weeks ago.

Binky

Leia:  Yeah, but it didn’t work out, so she’s back. I’m glad she is because I missed her.

George:  Well, I think I need to meet her. What does she look like?

Leia:  She’s a beautiful Russian Blue.

Bobbie:  Hey! Here comes Pirate.

Binky:  Hello, Pirate. Come on in and say hello to everyone.

Grace

Pirate:  Well shiver me timbers!  There are quite a few cats in here!

Binky:  More cats than dogs, that’s for certain.  Quite a few of us are very good with dogs.

George:  So, Pirate, what’s your story?

Pirate:  My family found out that I needed surgery for bladder stones, but couldn’t afford it, so they gave me to the veterinarian.  The vet is the one who takes care of ARF animals, so he asked if I could join the ARF family.

Binky:  Lucky you! And I hear you’re with a great foster family.

Pirate:  I am.  They are so, so kind. I wish ARF had even more fosters so more dogs like me could be taken in until new forever homes are found.

How long will Pirate be with his foster family?  Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of Days of our Nine Lives each week.   And please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Hwy 243 on Saturdays 10-4 and Sundays 10-2, or by appointment M – F by calling 951-659-1122.
