Steele opens new season in Napa

Brendan Steele opens the new 2016-17 PGA Tour season in Napa on Thursday in the $6 million Safeway Open, previously the Fries.com Open, played on the Silverado Resort and Spa (North) course.
The Idyllwild native has had mixed results on that course, but last year finished tied for 17th.
B tees off Thursday at 8:40 a.m. and Friday at 1:30 p.m.
