Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the association’s regular monthly tourney held on Friday, April 21, at The Legends Golf Course at Temeku Hills, Temecula.

It was a beautiful spring day and the hilly course was in good shape.

Dennis Chavez (course handicap 9) shot a net 65 for first place. Ken Garelick (25) took second with a net 71, John King (25) took third with a net 72, and Crandall (14) and Tom Flanagan (38) tied for fourth with net 73s.

Closest-to-the pin winners on the four par-3 holes were Crandall on hole no. 3, Pete Capparelli on hole no. 6, Garelick on no. 11 and Chavez on no. 15.

For the 2016-17 season, which started in August  and runs through July, here are the current point standings:

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
