On Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors to the mile-high artist community of Idyllwild will experience the magic that happens when galleries, artists and Southern California wineries join forces to raise money for art scholarships and events.

The annual Art Walk and Wine Tasting, presented by the Art Alliance of Idyllwild, a 501(c)(3) organization, draws more than 2,000 visitors.

Art lovers are invited to start their art hunt at 10 a.m. by visiting galleries and art hot spots set up around town. The “Art Walk” is free to the public and maps will be available at 54295 North Circle Drive.

Wine enthusiasts are invited to enjoy the “Art of Wine” in the afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. when 18 Southern California wineries from Temecula, Warner Springs, Escondido, Fallbrook, Julian and Idyllwild share a selection of great wines at art locations around town. The fall weather makes walking from location to location a fun experience, but free shuttles also will be available to transport guests between venues.

A VIP event will allow wine enthusiasts to mingle with the wineries on Friday evening. Tickets are $50 each to this event hosted at Middle Ridge Winery. The evening features their wines, hors d’oeuvres, conversation and the opportunity to admire the local art that adorns the walls. There are only 20 tickets available so reserve your ticket early at visit www.artinidyllwild.org. Included in the ticket price are the wine tastings, a keepsake wine glass, live music, and a selection of cheeses and crackers.

Ticket prices for the wine tastings are $35 each person, with a special price of $30 each for groups of 15-plus and available at the website listed above. AAI members also receive discounted ticket prices. Visit the email address listed above. All ticket prices will increase Friday, Sept. 15, and, if any tickets are available on Oct. 14, they will be $50 each, regardless of quantity.

The event sold out last year and only 1,200 tickets are available this year. A limited number of paper tickets are available now at select locations around Idyllwild, including the Town Crier and the Spruce Moose.
