Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines handicap chair, gave this report on last week’s golf tournament:

Palms to Pines Golf Association held its regular monthly tournament at The Legends Golf Club (formerly Temeku Hills) on Friday, Dec. 16.

Chuck Alkire (course handicap 10) came in first with a net 72. Pete Capparelli (20) and Les Widerynski (16) shared second with net 75s. John LoGiudice (22) and Robert Priefer (23) tied for fourth with net 77s.

There were four closest-to-the-pin contests: John Brower won on hole 3; Dale Calderon won on hole 6; Priefer won on hole 11; and Widerynski won on hole 15.

The club welcomes new member Wayne Sleme.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. In addition, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
