Ground broken for new Camp Ronald McDonald cafeteria
Shovels dug into mountain dirt as groundbreaking ceremonies were held at Camp Ronald McDonald, located in nearby Hurkey Creek area, starting construction of a dining hall and cabins to house any child, from infancy through age 18, who has cancer or a similar condition at no cost to the families.

San Bernardino Diocese visits Idyllwild
On Sunday, Oct. 9, the auxiliary bishop of the San Bernardino Diocese visited Idyllwild’s Queen of Angels Church. Bishop Rutilio del Riego (right) celebrated the 8 and 10 a.m. masses. Afterward, he joined the parishioners’ potluck after they held a town hall meeting. During the potluck, the bishop joined Father Charles Miller and one of the youngest parishioners, Orion Colinson.

Local stops burglary in progress
Local Tracy Philippi, ex Army ranger, stopped a burglary in progress and held the suspect at gunpoint until a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy arrived to make the arrest. Lt.
