Creature Corner: June 30, 2011

By Mimi and Hootch

A red, white and blue celebration to Melissa, the chiweenie who found her dream home this week. Rescued from the streets, scared, hungry and needing medical attention, she will now be pampered, loved, and sharing a home with Baxter, ARF’s movie star rescue. Paws up to you Melissa.

And, what could be more American than adopting The Duke? A pure chow chow, Duke is an energetic older male. Great on hikes, walks and good with other dogs. He is a great companion, who will help you show your spirit.

Put a flag on this guy, walk around Idyllwild, and you’ll know the meaning of true-blue loyalty. Winston is a young American Staffordshire whose heart would bleed for his fellow Americans. He may look intimidating, but this guy has his mind wrapped around unconditional love.

An ARF angel provided the ARF felines with a day of beauty and now they sparkle like fireworks in the sky. Join in our 4th of July fun, and adopt a kitty for the holiday and get a forever friend in the bargain.

Charlie may not sport the colors of America, but he has the heart. All about play, Charlie is a passive, loving, non-aggressive orange tabby. Adopt Charlie, and the sun will shine for you every day.

As solid as our ground, Granite yearns for a secure home of his own. Middle-aged, he is healthy, loving, good with other felines, canines and humans. Warm up to him, and you’ll have loyalty written in stone. And, his green eyes will melt your heart.

Help ARF celebrate our love of America and its animals.ARF has several cats and dogs available for adoption or fostering. Go to www.idyllwildarf.org and click on Petfinder. All pets are current on shots and are spayed or neutered.

ARF is open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call for appointment on any other day at (951) 659-1122. E-mail and donation opportunities are at www.idyllwildarf.org or e-mail arf@greencafe.com.

Creature corner is sponsored this week by Ann Morrison and Steve Pitchevsky in memory of Shana. To sponsor the column, call Shane Fender at the Town Crier, 659-2145.
