Edward A. Maloney
Edward “Ted” Arthur Maloney passed away Sept. 10 in Hemet, Calif. Ted was born March 18, 1921, in Bennington, Vt.

Ted served in World War II and was an honored war veteran. His company was part of the first line of deployment of A20 bombers sent into Europe and Northern Africa. He served as a past commander of the American Legion Post 800 in Idyllwild, and was also very active for many years at the VFW Harbour Post 2266 in San Jacinto.

Ted and his wife, Elsie, moved to the mountain in 1964. He was a builder in Pine Cove and later became a Realtor with Johnson Realty. Elsie worked for many years at True Value Hardware. Ted and Elsie enjoyed fishing and spent a good portion of each year in Puertecitas, Baja, Mexico, with Idyllwild friends.

Ted was preceded in death by Elsie in 1997. He is survived by his two sisters, Pat McCormack and Lucille Hurd; son James; daughter Trish; daughter-in-law Joy; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Barbara Acheson.

Ted was loved by so many for his warm, outgoing and caring personality.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the American Legion Post 800.
