The third trip to the state volleyball tournament was a repeat of the 2011 visit for the Hemet High School girls volleyball team, CIF SS champions.
Cathedral Catholic of Del Mar defeated the Hemet team again in the first round of the state tourney. The scores were 25-9, 25-18, 25-14.
Cathedral Catholic was the San Diego Section Division III champions. They went on to defeat number 5 seed Windward High School Saturday, Nov. 24 and will play in the Southern California finals Tuesday.
