Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, Nov. 21, regular monthly golf tournament held at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.

It was a beautiful day and the tough course was in excellent shape.

Dave Robb (course handicap 16) shot a net 67 to take first place; Gary Brown (11) shot a net 68 for second; John Brower (10) and Pete Capparelli (22) tied for third with net 71s; and John LoGiudice (22) and Barry Wallace (13) tied for fifth with net 72s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3 holes were Pete Holzman on holes 3 and 11, Robb on number 6 and Brown on number 14.

Brown also won low gross with a 79.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

The top eight-point finishers of the year go into match-play playoffs for the club championship in August, September and October. A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments and have a handicap no greater than 24.4 to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
