Brendan Steele carded a three-under-par 69 on the La Quinta Country Club Course Friday, but managed only to go into tomorrow’s third round tied for 90th place at a total of four under par.

We’re guessing that the 54-hole cut tomorrow, Saturday, afternoon might be at eight under par, which would mean that the Idyllwild native would need to post a four-under-par 68 tomorrow to qualify for play on Sunday.

Brendan seemed to struggle a bit with the putter Friday. His putting wasn’t way off, it was just that nothing much by way of birdie seemed to drop. His longest made putts of the day were two nine footers, one for birdie at no. 7 and another to save par at no. 16.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Brendan tees off no. 1 at the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West in La Quinta at 8:40 a.m.
