Emerson second at first indoor track meet

At his first indoor track meet, a statewide competition in Fresno, Jayden Emerson, of Hemet High School and Idyllwild, finished second in his heat and ninth overall in the 2-mile race.

The Hemet High School Boys’ freshman cross-country team finished first, against 14 other teams, in last week’s Mt. San Jacinto Invitational. Here, from left, are Jayden Emerson, Tanner Torrez and Chad Schelly. Tanner finished first, Jayden was eighth and Chad was 20th, competing against 168 other freshman runners.
The Hemet High School girls’ volleyball team is returning to the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section tournament this week. This is Hemet’s third consecutive year in the Southern Section playoffs.
The Hemet High School Cross Country running team competed in the Mt. Carmel invitational last weekend. As the race began, three Idyllwild boys — (from the left) Jayden Emerson, Tanner Torrez and Chad Schelly — started together. Running against 285 other freshman from throughout Southern California and Arizona, Torrez finished 10th, Emerson was 11th and Schelly was 91st.
The Hemet High School boy’s volleyball team beat Saddleback High School (Orange County) 3 games to 1. The individual game scores were 25-10, 25-19, 14-25 and 25-22. Hemet plays Oak Park High School next. The game is Thursday, 7 p.m., at Oak Park, which is the number one seed in the division. Oak Park’s record…
