Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the Friday, May 20, monthly golf tournament, played at The Golf Club at Rancho California in Murrieta.

A sunny spring day and the course in good shape offered good golfing weather.

barryBarry Zander (pictured, course handicap 39) took first place with a net 69, Jim Crandall (15) and David Hiemenz (41) tied for second with net 70s, Ken Garelick (26) was alone in fourth with a net 71, and Pete Capparelli (24) and Jerry Daquila (25) tied for fifth with net 72s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par 3s were Capparelli on hole no. 2, Zander on hole no. 6, Crandall on hole no. 10 and Dave Robb on 16.

The 2015-2016 season runs from August 2015 through July 2016.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
