Brendan Steele posted a 4-under-par 66-71-72-67 — 276 last week in the PGA Championship, one of the four “majors” on the regular PGA Tour. The Idyllwild native finished in a tie for 22nd place playing against most of the top players in the world.
On the week, he averaged drives of 291 yards that found only 52% of the fairways, but he still managed to hit 67% of the greens in regulation. He averaged picking up 0.735 strokes on the field each day with his putter.
Brendan now stands 40th on the PGA Tour’s FedExCup list and has moved up to 93rd in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Brendan has this week off but is expected to return next week in the Northern Trust, the first of the three FedExCup Championship tournaments this year.
