Brendan Steele posted a 4-over-par 71-73 — 144 at the PGA Championship at the Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey last week. From his stats, it appears that driving accuracy was a bit of a problem (he hit 13 of 29 fairways), he lost most of a stroke to the field with approach irons, and his putter wasn’t working particularly well, either — he lost 2.679 strokes to the field putting, needing 1.958 putts per green.

In his four most recent major-tournament appearances, the Idyllwild native finished 12th in last year’s PGA, 15th in this year’s U.S. Open, and missed the cut at this year’s The (British) Open and PGA.

B tees it up Thursday in the Travelers Championship on the TPC River Highlands course in Cromwell, Connecticut. His Thursday tee time is 9:25 a.m. PDT and his Friday time is 4:10 a.m. PDT.
