Brendan Steele plays this week in The Northern Trust, the first of four post-season playoff tournaments that will decide the winner of the FedExCup. The tournament will be played on the Glen Oaks Club course in Old Westbury, New York. The purse is $8.75 million, and a win is worth four times the usual number of FedExCup points — 2,000 — so moves both up and down the points list can be precipitous.

The native Idyllwilder currently stands in 16th place on the list; he needs to be at least in the top 30 after the third playoff tournament in order to gain entry into the final tournament, the Tour Championship. Brendan currently is 55th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

B tees off Thursday at 9:44 a.m. PDT and Friday at 5:05 a.m. PDT. He plays both days with Kyle Stanley and Paul Casey.
