Brendan Steele earned a top-20 in a prestigious tournament last week by firing a 6-under-par 69-66-71-72 — 278 in the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship in Mexico City. The four WGC tournaments, with their $10 million purses, attract the best golfers in the world, so a top-20 in any of them is a fine result.
For the week, the native Idyllwilder’s drives found only half of the fairways, with drives averaging 319 yards. He still managed to hit 72 percent of the greens in regulation, but lost nearly a stroke to the field putting.
Brendan is now sixth on the
FedExCup points list and 39th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
B is expected to take the next two weeks off before playing in the $10 million World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament in Austin, Texas.
