Brendan Steele didn’t take apart the course at the Safeway Open in Napa this year, as he did the past two years. He posted 67-71-72-75 — 285 to tie for 53rd place. Thirty mile-per-hour winds during at least one of his rounds may have had something to do with that.
In any case, he’s off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this week for the CIMB Classic. The Idyllwild native will tee off Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. PDT and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. PDT.
