Brendan Steele posted a 6-under-par 73-69-73-67 — 282 at the Emirates Australian Open in Sydney last week to take outright 12th place. Along the way, he posted 20 birdies against 7 bogeys — one triple and one quad. Ouch!

To demonstrate how damaging the triple and the quad were, had they both been simple bogeys instead, he would have finished in a tie for second place and earned entry to The Open in Northern Ireland in July of this 2018-19 season.

The highlight for the Idyllwild native had to be his 282nd stroke, the 40-foot putt with left-to-right break he curled in on no. 18 Sunday for birdie.

Brendan has this week off.
