Brendan Steele continues with the 2018-19 season, his ninth on the PGA Tour, at the Desert Classic this week in La Quinta, while next week he’ll play the Farmers Insurance Open in La Jolla.
The native Idyllwilder’s two-month hiatus, allowed him to slide gradually down both the FedExCup points list and the Official World Golf Ranking — he’s currently ranked 116th on both. But many other regular tour players are in similar boats, expecting to climb now that play will begin in earnest on the West Coast swing of the Tour.
Come on down to our own backyard to see Brendan play this week and cheer him on. His tee times for Thursday, Friday and Saturday are: Thursday, Nicklaus Tournament course, PGA West, #10 tee, 9:40 a.m.; Friday, Stadium course, PGA West, #1 tee, 9:10 a.m.; and Saturday, La Quinta CC course, #10 tee, 8:40 a.m. He will play both days with Jason Dufner. Because the Desert Classic is played on three different courses, the cut will not be until after Saturday’s third round.
