Brendan Steele put together a 5-under-par 70-72-67-74 — 283 last week to tie for 42nd place at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. His drives, averaging 297 yards, found 64 percent of the fairways, and he hit 50 percent of the greens in regulation.
Although B putted strongly on Saturday, gaining more than 2.5 strokes on the field that day, he still averaged dropping 0.669 strokes per round over the four days with the putter.
This week is Masters week, and this year the Idyllwild native has the week off.
