Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the association’s regular monthly tourney Friday, May 17 at Warner Springs Ranch Golf Course.
The course is picturesque, with wild turkeys gallavanting around, but the rough was high, and it was a cold spring day. High scores were abundant.
Crandall (course handicap 15) weathered the day with a net 75 for first place; Danny Crosser (18) was second shooting a net 76. Dennis Chavez (9) and Lee Lanfried (24) tied for third with net 77s. Paul Cozens (11) rounded out the top five with a net 79.
In the B flight are the golfers with a handicap index of 24.4 or above as of August 2018.
Tony Viola (24) also shot net 76 for first place. In second was Don DePalma (38), who shot a net 78. Barry Zander (37) shot net 83 for third and David Hiemenz (35) was fourth shooting a net 90.
The winners of the closest-to-the-pin contests on the four par 3s were Cozens on hole no. 5, Chavez on no. 7, and Crandall on the 15th hole. No one found the green with their first shot on the par 3, 13th hole.
