In his second-best finish ever at the Traveler’s Championship in Connecticut, Brendan Steele scored a 15-under-par 69-62-68-66 — 265 to tie for sixth place.

Back in 2014, he tied for fifth. He’s scored several top-20s at this tournament over the years.

The Idyllwild native pounded the ball with drives averaging 299 yards, finding two-thirds of the fairways, and he held 72% of the greens in regulation gaining 2.3 strokes against the field with his putter.

It was a fine performance for Brendan, coming off a COVID-19 scare when a player tested positive last week.

He moved up four spots on the FedExCup list to 40th place. Tiger Woods is just ahead at 39th.

Brendan is not playing this week. He told the Town Crier that he’ll play the Workday Charity Open July 9-12 and then the Memorial Tournament the following week, both in Dublin, Ohio.
