The course got progressively tougher for Brendan Steele last week in the Workday Charity Open in Dublin, Ohio. He posted a 2-under-par 69-70-71-76 — 286 to finish tied for 52nd place. Driving distance and greens in regulation were good stats for him last week, but driving accuracy and the putter cost him strokes.

The Idyllwild native has played the Muirfield Village course in 10 tournaments now as a touring PGA pro, but has managed only one top-20 finish in 2016. Of course, the Muirfield track changes a bit each year as Jack Nicklaus redesigns it to account for equipment improvements and other considerations.

Because of this year’s odd coronavirus-constricted schedule, Brendan will give it another go on the same Nicklaus-designed Muirfield Village course in this week’s $9.3-million Memorial Tournament.

Brendan will tee off Thursday at 4:22 a.m. PDT and Friday at 9:22 a.m. PDT, playing with Scottie Scheffler and Matt Wallace both days. You can follow him shot-for-shot in 3D using the new TOURCast feature on the PGA Tour app or website.
