Brendan Steele earned 17 Modified Stableford points at the Barracuda Championship in Northern California last week to tie for 53rd place.
Statistics were somewhat limited at this tournament, but over the four days the Idyllwild native’s drives found 78.57% of the fairways, allowing him to hit 69.44% of the greens in regulation.
His putter was working well. He picked up an average of 1.9 strokes each day against the rest of the field putting.
Brendan is now ranked 43rd on the FedExCup list, which becomes important in post-season FedExCup Championship play.
Next week, it’ll be back to the usual low-gross scoring when Brendan competes in the $11-million PGA Championship — one of the four “major” tournaments of each regular season on the PGA Tour — on the TPC Harding Park course in San Francisco.
He’ll tee off Thursday at 8:39 a.m. PDT and Friday at 2:04 p.m. PDT playing with Keith Mitchell and Matthias Schwab both days.
