Steele scores double eagle, but misses cut

Brendan Steele scored the rarest hole-score in golf Thursday at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico: a double eagle, also known as an albatross. At the 532-yard par-5 13th hole, the Idyllwild native’s second shot from the fairway found the green and curled into the cup for a 3-under-par score of two on the hole.
Brendan did not have such good fortune over the rest of his first two rounds of play, however, posting a three-over-par 71-74 — 145 to miss the cut by four strokes.
He drove well and picked up strokes putting, but he hit just 55.56% of the greens in regulation, which made scoring difficult.
