Brendan Steele will play this week in the $7.7-million Valero Texas Open on the Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio golf resort northeast of San Antonio. This tournament raises millions for charities — most recently, $14 million from a single tournament.
The Idyllwild native won this tournament in 2013, his rookie year on the PGA Tour, thereby joining such illustrious Texas Open champions as Walter Hagen (1923), Byron Nelson (’40), Ben Hogan (’46), Sam Snead (’48) and Arnold Palmer (’60, ’61, ’62), among others.
Brendan now stands 67th in the FedExCup Points list and 72nd on the Official World Golf Ranking.
Brendan will tee off this week on Thursday at 6:31 a.m. PDT and on Friday at 11:26 a.m. PDT, playing with Branden Grace and Kevin Chappell both days.
The tournament will be telecast on the Golf Channel Thursday thru Sunday, with primary NBC coverage on the weekend days.
You can follow Brendan shot-for-shot in 3D with TOURCast on the pgatour.com website or with the PGA Tour cellphone app.
