Brendan Steele posted a 1-under-par 69-70 — 139 last week at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, on the PGA Tour.
The previous week he finished birdie-birdie-birdie to miss the cut by one stroke. Last week, he finished bogey-bogey-bogey to the same end.
The Idyllwild native posted an eagle and five birdies against six bogeys while belting drives averaging 289 yards into 85% of the fairways. He hit 80% of the greens in regulation but dumped nearly six strokes against the field with the putter, according to PGA Tour stats.
Brendan currently stands in 77th place on the FedExCup points list, and is ranked 85th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
B now will be taking a several-week break. He told the Town Crier he was looking to play “maybe in Reno” next — which would be a reference to the Barracuda Championship during the first week in August.
