Brendan Steele fired under-par golf in the badly weather-delayed The Players Classic in Florida last week, posting a 6-under-par 73-69-69-71 — 282 to finish in a tie for 13th place. The Players is one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf, often referred to as “the 5th Major.”
One highlight for the Idyllwild native had to be his opening nine holes in the third round, when he notched five birdies and went bogey free, posting a spectacular 31 and working his way up to within a shot of the lead.
Brendan pounded drives averaging 296.8 yards into 78.57% of the fairways allowing him to hit two-thirds of the greens in regulation. He did give away about a half a stroke per round to the field with the putter.
B now stands in 39th place on the PGA’s FedExCup points list, and he is now ranked 126th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
B has taken the rest of this week off.
