Charging stations coming to I-10

Caltrans begins work on a $4.9 million project to install Zero Emissions Vehicle Charging Stations on I-10 near Banning, Blythe and Yucaipa, weather permitting.

Completion date is tentatively May 1, 2024.

Caltrans crews begin work at the east and westbound Whitewater rest areas, and the eastbound Wildwood rest area on the I-10.

Regular hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. No lane or ramp closures are expected on a regular basis but may take place intermittently to move equipment into the rest areas.

The new ZEV charging stations will utilize a portion of the existing parking lot. Use caution when around the work area.

The westbound Wiley’s Well rest area will begin at a later date.
