Brendan Steele posted an even-par 72 Sunday in the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, to finish the tournament 3 under par in a tie for 14th place. His round scores were 71-70-72-72 — 285.

It was his sixth top-20 finish in 14 starts this season.

The Idyllwild native now has 530 FedExCup points. He moved up from 59th to 53rd on that list as a result of this tournament and already has virtually assured his playing card for next season.

By virtue of last season’s success, Brendan qualified to play in this week’s The Players Championship, often referred to as “the 5th Major,” on the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. B tees off Thursday at 6:16 a.m. PDT and Friday at 11:21 a.m. PDT. Follow him live, shot-for-shot, on pgatour.com or check with The Town Crier website or app each evening for a summary of Brendan’s rounds.
