Natashia Deón discussed her critically-acclaimed novel “Grace” with host Eduardo Santiago at the Idyllwild Authors Series on Sunday at Cafe Aroma. Deón read from the emotionally gripping beginning of the novel as an escaped, pregnant slave runs from the dogs pursuing her in 1848. The capacity crowd was moved from the first words and appreciative of the opportunity to listen to this exceptional author.Photo by Tom Kluzak

Idyllwild Rotary President Marc Kassouf (right) presents the Rotary squirrel to Rick Foster after he addressed the club at its weekly meeting on Wednesday, July 13. Foster talked about Rotary International and its website, www.rotary.org. Many don’t realize that Rotary International, whose motto is “service above self,” has 1.2 million members worldwide, and supports a wide variety of philanthropic causes, including the eradication of polio.
